WHAT WE OFFER
At NT Steel Services Ltd, we provide precision steel solutions for builders, contractors, and developers across the North East. Whether you're working on a residential extension or a commercial build, we support your project with compliant fabrication, protective finishes, and CAD-assisted design.
We provide the following services:

Primer painting
-
Hot dip galvanising
-
CAD drawings issued to you to provide us with site sizes
-
Final CAD drawing issued for approval prior to manufacture
Please note, we are not structurally qualified to advise on what steel section sizes should be used on your project. We operate on the assumption that a qualified structural engineer has agreed that the information provided is accurate and approved for use on your project. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that the specification is correct. We would expect you to issue us with a copy of the structural engineer's calculations and a plan drawing showing the steel layout at point of enquiry.

STRUCTURAL STEEL TYPES
We provide 2 types of steel: S275 and S355. The ‘S’ designates that it is suitable for use in structural work, and the number refers to the minimum yield strength. S275 steel is used in projects that are not required to withstand heavy loads or too much load-bearing stress, whereas S355 steel is suitable for use in projects such as heavy machinery, bridges, and high-rise buildings. We also supply a primer painting and a shot blasting service, if requested, at the time of ordering.
HOT DIP GALVANISING
Hot dip galvanising is a process that immerses steel into molten zinc and causes a metallurgic fusion between the zinc and the iron to form a surface that is part of the steel. It protects against corrosion, and provides a maintenance-free surface for at least 50 years; it’s environmentally sustainable, and is resistant to abrasion and impacts. It will repair itself when damaged and can be identified by a characteristic patterning on the surface. This is commonly specified on drawings if steelwork comes in to contact with external walls.

PRIMER PAINTING
To support corrosion resistance and surface preparation, we offer primer painting as part of our fabrication service. This protective coating helps extend the lifespan of steel components, particularly in interior or low-exposure environments. Primer application is completed in-house and can be tailored to your project’s requirements or specified finish.
CAD DRAWINGS ISSUED TO YOU TO PROVIDE US WITH SITE SIZES
Once your structural engineer has approved the layout and calculations, we issue initial CAD drawings to assist with site sizing. These drawings help ensure accurate measurements and alignment before fabrication begins. Customers are responsible for confirming all dimensions and providing feedback based on actual site conditions.

FINAL CAD DRAWING ISSUED FOR APPROVAL PRIOR TO MANUFACTURE
Before any steel is cut or assembled, we provide a final CAD drawing for customer approval. This step ensures that all specifications, dimensions, and connection details are verified and compliant with the structural engineer’s design. Manufacture only proceeds once written approval is received, helping prevent costly errors and ensuring full alignment with project requirements.
